Mixed Media Art

Mixed media is what happens when one material cannot say the whole thing. Ink laid over acrylic, charcoal drawn back into a wash, collage and texture built up until the surface itself becomes part of the subject. These works reward standing close — there is grain, edge and layering that a photograph flattens and a print cannot reproduce. Because they carry both texture and colour, they hold a wall on their own, which makes them a natural choice for a stairwell, a reception, or the one space in a house that needs something with weight.

Every mixed media work at House of Art is an original, built by hand and signed, supplied framed and ready to hang with a certificate of authenticity. Sizes run from small studies to wall-scale pieces, with commissions developed around your space.
