How buying from digitalpremises works
Every sale on House of Arts is protected. The artist is not paid until you have the artwork in your hands and have confirmed it is what was described.

The artist packs and ships the work
Physical artwork is dispatched by the artist directly. They submit the courier, tracking number and dispatch date to House of Arts, and we pass those details on to you.

We ask you to confirm four things: quality, material, dimensions and condition — that the artwork matches what the listing promised.

Funds release after 15 days
The 15-day window starts the day the work is delivered, not the day you pay. If you raise a return or a problem in that window, the payout is paused until it is resolved.

The artist is paid
House of Arts retains 10% to cover listing, payment processing, customer service and dispute handling. The rest goes to the artist.
Quality and customer first. Where a buyer's account of the work and the listing differ, House of Arts resolves it in the buyer's favour.

Who am I actually buying from?
The artwork is made and sold by digitalpremises. House of Arts handles the listing, the payment and the after-sales process, and holds your money until you confirm the piece arrived as described.
Who ships it, and how long does it take?
The artist packs and dispatches the piece directly. They submit the courier, tracking number and dispatch date to the gallery, and we pass those to you. Most work leaves within a few days of the order.
What if it arrives damaged or is not as described?
Tell us within the 15-day window and the artist's payment is paused while we sort it out. We ask you to check four things on arrival: quality, material, dimensions and condition. Where your account and the listing differ, we resolve it in your favour.
Is the artwork original?
Every artist declares, on each listing, that the work is their own and not a copy. That declaration is recorded with a timestamp. Editions and prints are labelled as such in the listing.
Can I contact the artist directly?
Where the artist has enabled it, yes — for commissions or questions about a piece. Purchases should still go through House of Arts so that the buyer protections above apply.

What does it cost to sell here?
The gallery retains 10% as a convenience charge, plus GST on that fee. It is calculated on the artwork price only, never on postage you have paid yourself. There is no listing fee and no monthly charge.
When do I get paid?
The 15-day clock starts the day the buyer receives the work, not the day they pay. Once they confirm it matches the listing and the window closes, the payout is released. You can watch each sale move through those stages under Earnings.
What is deducted, exactly?
The gallery fee and GST on it, plus any TCS and TDS the law requires us to withhold. Every sale shows a full breakdown in your Earnings screen — you can see how each figure was reached.
Who is responsible if someone claims copyright?
You are. Each listing carries your declaration that the work is your own original piece and that you hold the rights to sell it. A listing that turns out to be a copy is removed, and the artist is responsible for the claim and any loss it causes the gallery.
Can I sell the same work elsewhere?
Yes — nothing here is exclusive. Just keep your stock accurate so a piece is not sold twice.

Why hold the money at all?
Because a buyer paying a stranger for an expensive object they have not seen needs a reason to trust it. Holding the funds until delivery is confirmed is what makes that reasonable, and it protects honest artists from being tarred by a bad actor.
What does the gallery actually do for its fee?
Listing and review, payment processing, customer service, dispute handling, the tax withholding and reporting the law requires of a marketplace, and the platform itself.
How are artists vetted?
Every artist applies with a written account of their practice and links to their work, and every artwork is reviewed before it goes live — photographs checked against the description, dimensions checked for plausibility.
What is recorded?
Every step, with a timestamp: the application, the approval, each submission and review, dispatch details, delivery, buyer confirmation and payout. If an artist and a buyer disagree about what happened, the record settles it.
