I paint originals. Canvas, paper, oil, acrylic, watercolour, ink and charcoal — and increasingly whatever combination a particular idea needs.
House of Art is my studio and gallery. Everything sold here I made myself, by hand, one piece at a time. There are no reproductions passed off as originals and no work bought in from elsewhere.
Twenty-one years of practice sit behind that. Most of it in design and visual work, where the discipline is clarity: knowing what a piece is for, what it has to do in a space, and what to leave out. That habit followed me into painting, and it shows. I am more interested in a canvas that holds a wall for a decade than one that impresses for a week.
The work
Six themes run through the collection — abstract colour field, regional landscape, architectural line and wash, botanical study, contemporary folk, and minimal figures. Each is a body of work rather than a single picture, which means a scheme can run across a whole floor without repeating itself.
The subjects are mostly local. Fields and foothills you half-recognise from the drive into Chandigarh. Courtyards from the old city. Marigolds in November. Painting the place you actually live in gives the work something no imported print can offer.
How I work
I paint from observation first and photographs second. Studies come before finished pieces, and most canvases are built in layers over days rather than finished in a sitting.
For commissions the process is straightforward. I visit the space, measure the wall, look at the light and take the palette from what is already there. You see concept sketches before anything is committed, at no cost. Then four to eight weeks depending on scale, and I deliver, hang and label the work myself.
Every original leaves the studio signed, framed, and with a certificate of authenticity.
Who I work with
Private collectors and homes across the tricity. Hotels placing original work in lobbies, suites and corridors. Architects and interior designers specifying art into projects at drawing stage. Companies choosing something for their walls or their people that is not another hamper.
Sizes run from small studies to wall-scale. Commissions are sized to the wall you have, not the other way round.
