Buddha Yantra II — Descent to the Point

A broad gold ring on a midnight ground. Inside it, a field of deep crimson. Inside that, a blue square. And then the descent begins.

A green diamond turns forty-five degrees within the blue square. A red square sits within the green diamond. An orange diamond within the red square. A yellow square within the orange. A dark diamond within the yellow. And at the very centre, a single point of gold, smaller than a fingertip.

Each form is rotated against the one containing it, so the eye cannot rest on any level — it keeps falling inward. That is the whole structure of the painting, and it is the oldest idea in yantra geometry: a sequence of enclosures leading to the bindu, the point at the centre where everything converges and stops.

The colour is flat, unmixed and deliberately unmodulated. Green against blue, red against green, orange against red — each pair chosen for maximum contrast rather than harmony, so the boundaries stay hard and the descent stays legible from across a room. Only the gold is worked with any texture, the brush marks left visible in the outer ring.

This is a loud painting, and meant to be. It needs a plain wall and space around it, and it will dominate whatever it hangs on. On the right wall that is exactly the point.

Suited to a puja room, a meditation or yoga space, an entrance hall or a reception — anywhere a single focal point is wanted rather than a grouping.
